SEARCH NOTES · ASK FOR THE GAP

Find the one detail your shortlist is missing

Search works best after you know what the current row cannot tell you. Choose one product type, name the missing evidence, and stop when the answer is clear.

Write down the gap first

Search becomes noisy when the question changes halfway through. Keep the row open and note three things: what the item is, which option you are considering, and the detail that is missing. This prevents a useful size-chart search from turning into another hour of general browsing.

Decide what would count as an answer. A garment measurement needs named dimensions and units. A bag photo needs to show the interior or closure you cannot see. A shipping estimate needs destination, packed weight, dimensions, and a service option.

Start with one product type

Choose a neutral category such as shoes, jackets, pants, bags, watches, or accessories. Staying with one product type gives you a coherent group and makes missing details easier to spot. If the results mix unrelated items, remove decorative words and keep only the product type plus the detail you need.

shoes + insole length

Useful when the size label cannot be compared with footwear you already own.

bag + interior photos

Useful when the outside looks clear but capacity, lining, or pocket layout is still unknown.

jacket + packed weight

Useful when bulk may change the overall value of two similar options.

watch + case dimensions

Useful when product photos do not show how large or thick the watch will feel.

Ask for the evidence that could change your choice

Photos

Name the missing view: both heels, the sole, a bag's lining, a jacket's back, a clasp, or the included accessories. “More photos” is too broad.

Measurements

Use the actual dimension—chest width, garment length, insole length, bag width, case diameter—and check that the result names the units and method.

Shipping inputs

Look for item or packed weight and parcel dimensions. Keep estimates separate from an official quote for your destination and route.

Add a source name only when it helps

Taobao, Weidian, and 1688 can help you recover a marketplace listing with options, measurements, or seller notes. Yupoo can help when the row points to an image album. The source name is useful only when the row gives you a clue that the missing information may be there.

If you reach a promising page, compare its product type, visible item, selected option, and domain with the spreadsheet row. A correct-looking page is still the wrong source if the option or item has changed.

Check a converted link against the original

A converter can make a source easier to open, but it can also drop an option, redirect to a generic page, or hide the raw destination. Save the original URL when it is available and compare both pages before relying on the converted result.

Simple rule

Converted is not the same as confirmed. The item, option, and source domain should remain consistent.

Keep product questions separate from account questions

Product research can help with photos, measurements, source context, and likely weight. It cannot confirm your account, payment, parcel, tracking, return, refund, coupon, or support case. For those questions, start from the verified official domain named in your account or order record.

Do not put an order number, address, password, or payment detail into a public search box. Use the official support route and check the domain before signing in.

If the first results are not useful

  1. Remove extra labels.

Keep the category and missing detail; drop words that do not change the question.

  2. Try the raw source.

If the row includes an original marketplace or album URL, inspect that destination directly.

  3. Change the evidence term.

Replace “photos” with the exact view or “size” with the exact measurement you need.

  4. Stop after two rewrites.

If the evidence is still absent, mark the row incomplete instead of inventing confidence.

Know when search cannot answer the question

Search results cannot guarantee authenticity, product quality, current stock, seller conduct, final shipping cost, delivery time, or a refund outcome. They can help you locate evidence, but a missing answer remains a valid reason to pause or remove an item.

If another agent name appears, use the cross-platform comparison to separate the label from the original source and current official service information.
